Introducing Matt Glover, Commercial Director


After 9 years at Capcom, we welcomed Matt Glover to the Genba Digital team as Commercial Director. Two months on, Matt shares how he’s settling in, what he’s looking forward to this year with Genba, and the pride and joy of his ‘Disco Toilet’…

So what enticed you to make the move to Genba Digital?

Having worked with Genba from a Publisher perspective for the last six years, I’d seen the company grow and develop year on year. I also knew the value that Genba offers to the ever-growing digital market, so I was excited at the prospect of being part of that.

Getting to work with a multitude of Publishers and Etailers to drive incremental revenue for all parties across the world – in a fun and dynamic environment – is great to be involved in. Everyday offers a fresh challenge!

Over the years, I’ve witnessed the Genba team’s great work ethic. They’re proactive, driven and knowledgeable, which obviously appealed to me. It’s been proven right, as the atmosphere within the office has a great buzz – except when it comes to issues of tea making duties (which I admit I haven’t really pulled my weight on yet).

What gets you out of bed in the morning?

Usually my alarm at 5.15am, which as you can imagine, the rest of my household love me for. Like many people, I get up every day to support and enjoy my family for the good, the bad, and the ugly.

How are you hoping to put your stamp on the distribution side of the industry?

For me, this is simple. It’s all about the service we provide. It’s paramount that we continue to deliver on this and add value for all our partners.

What takes up your time outside of Genba?

Time permitting, I enjoy a bit of gaming. Recently I’ve enjoyed Days Gone and Detroit: Become Human. I’m also looking forward to the upcoming Resident Evil 3 and DOOM Eternal. Running is another love of mine. I try to complete 10K a week and enter a couple of half marathons a year but have not yet attempted a full marathon.

What are you most looking forward to this year with Genba?

It’s a great year ahead at Genba as we are in the latter stages of implementing our new API system via Genba 3.0 (more to come on this). I’m really looking forward to working closely with all our partners to deliver the fantastic content on the horizon, ensuring we maintain and improve our high level of service.

2020 is going to be an exciting year in the games industry, with the imminent arrival of the new console cycle. I’m sure it will deliver a few surprises along the way, which is why I love this industry.

Finally, tell us a random fact about yourself.

I’m very proud of my downstairs toilet which has been kitted out in the theme of a ‘Disco Toilet’. This may sound tacky, but I can assure you that when people see it, their opinion is changed!
