Returning from a sunny San Francisco, the Genba GDC team has had a chance to reflect on the show itself, as well as the many conversations enjoyed with industry colleagues.
The challenges we collectively face as an industry seem clear to the team: how to identify new audiences, navigate challenging market environments, and develop new opportunities for growth.
“Talking to our colleagues and partners at the show, the same topics came up time and time again,” said Matt Glover, Managing Director of Genba. “How can we grow IPs outside of their traditional communities? How can we both grow brands and develop new avenues for revenue?
“The industry is projected to face slow growth over the coming years (a challenge in itself), but the message I took home from GDC this year is that people are primed to face the challenge head on and find creative answers to these questions. As an industry, I’m confident we’ll adapt.”
Meanwhile, Genba’s Business Development Director Jason Hall met with faces both old and new to discuss how partners can collaborate with Genba, and ensure they capitalise on every opportunity for growth.
“It was a busy week, but it’s always exciting to showcase Genba to new publishers,” says Jason. “The games industry is full of engaging personalities, interesting stories and forward-thinking individuals. It’s one of the reasons I love GDC!
“It was also a great opportunity to meet with our existing partners and ensure our businesses are aligned for the opportunities that lie ahead.”
Thanks to everyone who took the time to meet with us at GDC, and we’re looking forward to working with you all throughout the rest of 2026.
