This Sunday 8th March is International Women’s Day. Ahead of the day itself, we want to highlight the achievements of some of the women who work across the organisation at Genba. First up in our series of brief Q&As is our content editor, Ayca Çelik.
What habit or way of thinking has had the biggest influence on your career?
“I would say not viewing my role through the generic lens of ‘work’. Being right in the heart of my biggest hobby changes the game for me. Focusing on the content itself (rather than just the effort required) helps me enjoy the job and deliver better results than I would in any other industry.”
What's something you've learned in your role that you wish you'd known earlier in your career?
“I realised that being passionate about my role shouldn’t also prevent me from acknowledging the hard work and value of my contributions, and taking ownership of my successes.”
What’s something about your role that people often underestimate?
“Operations is the invisible force behind the more tangible work we provide for our partners. While some of the other teams have more client-facing, communications-based roles, our position in the chain doesn’t give us as much visibility.”
What project or achievement from the last year are you most proud of and why?
“I’m most proud of exceeding personal targets for our title ingestions and key uploads, while independently managing promotions during a critical transition period. I also took a lot of pride in collaborating with our Tech and Commercial teams while they reshaped the promotion tools before successfully handing the function over to the Commercial team.”
What excites you most about your current or upcoming work?
“New titles from my favorite publishers! That’s the best part of my job: seeing the roadmap for my favorite franchises before anyone else. Even just seeing the assets for a game I’ve been waiting for gets me hyped to do my best work for its launch!”
