It’s International Women’s Day this Sunday 8th March, and throughout the day we’re highlighting the achievements of some of the women who work at Genba. Next up, we spoke to our Commercial Manager Huiwen ‘Wendy’ Kuo.
What habit or way of thinking has had the biggest influence on your career?
“You can go as far as your mind lets you.’ This has been the motivation behind my whole life, and even brought me here to the UK to pursue a different kind of lifestyle.”
What's something you've learned in your role that you wish you'd known earlier in your career?
“I learned that it’s okay to reach out for help. Having spent my early career in Taiwan and Japan, I tried to research and finish tasks myself as I didn't want to bother others. However, Genba has built a friendly environment where everyone is supported and encouraged to help each other. That’s been a game-changer for me, as I know I’m not alone.”
What’s something about your role that people often underestimate?
“The coordination between publishers and retailers - while managing a big release that demands constant attention - is a skill that often gets underestimated!”
What project or achievement from the last year are you most proud of and why?
“I've been proud to join the team and utilise my language skills to support our publishers. I’ve not only shortened the communication gap but also strengthened relationships, which is something I've always wanted to do in my career.”
What excites you most about your current or upcoming work?
“I'm excited to attend Gamescom to meet our partners in person and learn more about the industry!”
